Add a receipt printer in the SeroPOS back office

Add a receipt printer in the back office so a location can print receipts to it directly. Open Settings › Receipt Printers (/printers), click Add, enter a Printer Name, choose the Connection Type (Network, Windows, Linux, USB or Bluetooth), pick a Capability Profile and Characters per line, then enter the IP Address and Port or the Path. Click Save and pick the printer in the location's receipt settings.

  6. Enter the address or path. For a network printer, enter its IP Address and Port, normally 9100. For Windows or Linux, enter the printer's Path or share name.
  7. Save and assign it. Click Save. Then open Settings › Business Locations, click Settings on the location and pick the printer under Use Configured Receipt Printer.

Finding a network printer's IP address

Most thermal printers print a self-test page when you hold the feed button while turning them on. The page shows the IP address. Give the printer a fixed IP address in your router so it doesn't change after a power cut.

Kitchen printers added here can also be used for kitchen order tickets; set that up under Settings › KOT.

App printers are set on the device

The SeroPOS app adds its own printers on each tablet or Windows till, including auto-detecting network printers. This screen is for printing from the back office.

Frequently asked questions

What port does a network receipt printer use?

Almost all network thermal printers listen on port 9100, which is the usual default. Enter the printer's IP Address and 9100 as the Port. If it doesn't print, check the printer and the computer are on the same network.

Which Capability Profile should I choose?

Start with Default, which suits most ESC/POS thermal printers. Pick Star Branded for Star printers, or Epson TEP for that model. Try Simple if characters or line spacing come out wrong.
