Set up your business details in SeroPOS

Your business name, currency, time zone, logo, financial year and stock method live on the first tab of the Business Settings page. Open Settings › Setting in the back office sidebar (/business/settings), stay on the Details tab, change the fields you need and click Update Settings. The currency and stock accounting method shape every report, so set them before you add products and sales.

Steps

  1. Open the Business Settings page. In the back office sidebar, open Settings and click Setting. This is the Business Settings page at /business/settings, with its tabs down the left and a search box at the top.
  2. Stay on the Details tab. Details is the first tab and opens by default. It holds the core facts about your business.
  3. Enter the name, start date and currency. Fill in Business Name and Start Date, then pick your Currency and choose Currency Symbol Placement: Before amount or After amount.
  4. Set the time zone and upload a logo. Pick your Time zone so sales and reports use your local day. Use Upload Logo to add your logo; a new upload replaces the previous one.
  5. Choose the financial year and stock method. Set Financial year start month, then pick the Stock Accounting Method: FIFO (first in, first out) or LIFO (last in, first out). This decides the cost used for profit on each sale.
  6. Set editing limits and formats. Enter Transaction Edit Days, the number of days after a sale or purchase during which it can still be edited. Pick a Date Format and a Time Format of 12 Hour or 24 Hour.
  7. Set a default profit percent. Default profit percent is the margin used to suggest a selling price from the purchase price when you add a product. You can change it on any single product.
  8. Click Update Settings. Click Update Settings at the bottom of the page. Every tab on this page saves together, so finish any other tab you changed before you click.

Settings worth deciding early

Currency, the stock accounting method and the financial year start month feed your profit, stock value and year-end reports. Changing them after months of trading makes older and newer figures hard to compare, so settle them on day one.

Transaction Edit Days is a simple control on staff. A short window, such as 7 days, stops old sales being changed after you have reconciled the till or filed a return.

Where else business details show up

The logo you upload here can print on invoices and receipts when the invoice layout has Show invoice Logo ticked. Each store's own address, phone and time zone are set separately under Settings › Business Locations.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my currency later?

The Currency field stays editable, but existing sales and purchases keep the amounts they were recorded with. Changing it later relabels those figures rather than converting them, so pick the right currency before you start selling. If you buy from suppliers in another currency, turn on Purchases in other currency on the Purchases tab instead.

Should I pick FIFO or LIFO?

Most small shops and restaurants use FIFO, which costs each sale at the price of the oldest stock you still hold. That matches how stock usually moves off a shelf. Ask your accountant if you are unsure, because the method changes the profit and stock value you report.

Why are my report dates off by a day?

Check the Time zone on the Details tab and on each business location. If the zone is wrong, late-evening sales can land on the next day. Each location also has a Day end / closing time that decides which date a sale after midnight belongs to.
