Zoom and go full screen

Make everything on screen bigger or smaller the way a web browser does: hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) and press plus or minus, and press Ctrl 0 to go back to 100%. On an iPad, pinch with two fingers. On a Windows or Mac till, press F11 to switch borderless full screen on or off. The zoom level is remembered after a restart.

Steps

  1. Zoom in. Hold Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) and press the plus key. Each press makes the whole app one step larger, including dialogs and popups.
  2. Zoom out. Hold Ctrl or Cmd and press minus to fit more on screen, such as more rows in a list or more products in the grid.
  3. Reset. Press Ctrl 0 (Cmd 0 on a Mac) to go back to 100%.
  4. Pinch on an iPad. On an iPad without a keyboard, spread two fingers to zoom in and pinch to zoom out. It steps through the same levels as the keys.
  5. Go full screen. On a Windows or Mac till, press F11 to hide the window frame and taskbar. Press F11 again to return to a window.

When zoom helps

A laptop or small monitor can show less of a screen than the till it was laid out on. Zooming out to 80 or 90% fits more rows and products without making the text tiny, while zooming in helps on a large till that staff read from a distance.

Zoom resizes the layout itself, not just the text, so buttons and columns stay in proportion. Screens with their own pinch zoom, such as the floor plan, keep their own zoom when you pinch on them.

  • Ctrl or Cmd with + and -: zoom in and out
  • Ctrl or Cmd with 0: back to 100%
  • F11: full screen on Windows and Mac
  • Two-finger pinch: iPad only

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't pinching zoom on my Windows touchscreen?

Pinch zoom is for iPad only on purpose. On a Windows touchscreen till, a stray second finger during a rush should not rearrange the screen. Use Ctrl with plus or minus on the keyboard instead.

How do I leave full screen?

Press F11 again. Kiosk Mode and KDS Mode use full screen on desktop by themselves and have their own exit, which needs an Admin or Manager login.
