Help · Multi till and offline

Keep selling when you are offline

When the internet drops, keep selling. SeroPOS saves each sale on the device, kitchen tickets keep printing to your local printers, and the online/offline indicator in the app bar shows the connection state. Sales upload by themselves every few seconds once the connection is back, and a sale that cannot upload is kept on the till, never thrown away.

Steps

  1. Watch the indicator. The online/offline indicator in the app bar shows when the till has lost its connection.
  2. Keep ringing up sales. Take orders and payments as usual. Each sale is saved on the device with its own number so it cannot clash with another till's sale.
  3. Send kitchen tickets. Hold and send orders as normal. Kitchen tickets print offline to printers on your local network or connected to the till.
  4. Let it catch up. When the connection returns, saved sales upload automatically. You do not need to do anything.
  5. Check for stuck sales. Once online, open Recent Transaction. A sale that has not reached the server can be sent again with Resend to server.

How uploading works

SeroPOS tries to upload saved sales every 20 seconds. If the server cannot be reached it waits longer between tries, up to 30 minutes. After several failed attempts a sale is parked on the device so it is kept safe, and you can resend it from Recent Transaction.

Card payments made just before a drop are protected too: an approved charge is saved to the till's outbox first and replayed if the sale did not record.

What needs a connection

Most selling works offline, but a few screens read live data from the server and need the internet.

  • DSR (Daily Sale Report)
  • Recent Transaction, including voids and refunds
  • Shifts and attendance
  • Looking up a barcode the till has not synced yet
  • Card terminals that connect through the cloud

Frequently asked questions

Can I take card payments offline?

A terminal connected over your local network, or Terminal Plus on the T650P, still needs its own connection to approve cards. If the terminal cannot reach its processor, take cash or another tender and record it as usual. Cloud-connected terminals need the internet.

Will offline sales show in the back office?

Yes, once they upload. When the connection returns, the till sends every saved sale to the server, and they appear in the web back office and reports. Check Recent Transaction for any sale that needs Resend to server.

Is anything lost if the till restarts while offline?

No. Offline sales are saved in the device's database, not just in memory, so they survive a restart and upload when the till is back online.
