Steps
- Open Production. In the back office sidebar, click Manufacturing, then Production in the top bar.
- Add production. Click Add Production. Leave the reference number empty to auto-generate it with your production prefix.
- Choose location and product. Pick the business location and the product you're making. The recipe's ingredients appear below.
- Set date and quantity. Enter the Manufacturing Date and the quantity you made. Ingredient quantities scale to match.
- Adjust ingredients. Change an ingredient's quantity if this batch used more or less, unless your settings lock ingredient quantities.
- Record waste. Enter the Wasted Quantity of finished product lost in this run.
- Check the cost. Review the Production Cost and Total Cost for the batch.
- Finalize. Tick Finalize and save. Stock moves now: ingredients out, finished goods in at the location you chose.
Saving without finalizing
Leave Finalize unticked to save the production as a draft, for example while a batch is still in the oven. Stock doesn't move until you edit it and finalize. A finalized run can't be edited, and it becomes part of your stock history and the manufacturing report.
Good to know
If Update product purchase price on finalizing production is on in Manufacturing › Settings, finalizing also updates the product's purchase price from this run's cost. Total production cost feeds your profit and loss report. Recipes and production are part of the Pro plan. The Manufacturing item shows in the back office sidebar when your subscription includes it and your role has the recipe or production permissions.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see any ingredients?
Select the business location and the product first. If the product has no recipe yet, create one in Manufacturing › Recipe.
Does production reduce ingredient stock?
Yes, when you finalize. Each ingredient's quantity is taken out of stock at the chosen location, and the finished product's stock goes up by the quantity made, less waste.
Can I edit a production run?
You can edit a production run while it is still a draft. Once it is finalized it can no longer be edited, so check quantities and waste before you tick Finalize.
