Choose manufacturing settings in SeroPOS

Manufacturing › Settings (/manufacturing/settings) controls how production behaves. Set the Production Ref No. prefix for new runs, choose whether staff can edit ingredient quantities when recording production, and decide whether finalizing a run updates the product's purchase price from its production cost.

Steps

  1. Open settings. In the back office sidebar, click Manufacturing, then Settings.
  2. Set the reference prefix. Enter a Production Ref No. prefix, such as PRD-. New runs with an empty reference get the prefix and the next number.
  3. Lock ingredient quantities. Tick Disable editing ingredients quantity in production if every batch must follow the recipe exactly.
  4. Update cost on finalize. Tick Update product purchase price based on production price, on finalizing production to keep product costs current automatically.
  5. Save. Save. The settings apply to production you record from now on.

Choosing the options

Locking ingredient quantities suits kitchens and bakeries where recipes are fixed and you want consistent costing. Leave editing on if batches vary and staff record what was actually used.

Updating the purchase price on finalize gives you the true cost of each run in your margins. Leave it off if you prefer to update costs yourself from the recipe list.

Good to know

The settings page also shows the manufacturing module version. Recipes and production are part of the Pro plan. The Manufacturing item shows in the back office sidebar when your subscription includes it and your role has the recipe or production permissions.

Frequently asked questions

Does updating the purchase price change selling prices?

No. It only changes the product's purchase price, which is the cost used for margins and profit. Selling prices stay as they are.

Can managers still change ingredient quantities when they're locked?

With Disable editing ingredients quantity in production ticked, the quantities come from the recipe for everyone. Change the recipe itself if the standard quantities need to change.

What is the reference prefix for?

It's added to the start of each auto-generated production reference number, so production runs are easy to recognise in stock history and reports.
