Show a customer display in a browser

Any screen with a web browser on your local Wi-Fi can show customers their order, with no internet needed. Open Drawer › Multi Monitor, tap Start under Web Display Server, then open the address it shows in a browser on the second screen, or scan the QR code with a phone or tablet. The order updates as items go into the cart.

How to Use Any Browser as a Customer Display in SeroPOS0:49 · narrated, with captions

Steps

  1. Open Multi Monitor. Open the drawer and tap Multi Monitor. This row is shown on tablets and computers.
  2. Start the server. Under Web Display Server, leave the Port at 8765 unless something else uses it, and tap Start.
  3. Open the address. A web address and QR code appear. On the second screen, open Chrome or Edge and go to that address, or scan the QR code with a phone or tablet. Use the copy button to put the address on the clipboard.
  4. Choose the layout. Under Display Layout, pick Split Screen (cart and slideshow), Cart Only or Media / Slideshow Only, and set the cart to the left or right.
  5. Add media. Under Media Files, tap Add Files to add images or videos. Drag files to reorder them and set how long each image shows.
  6. Push your changes. Choose Dark or Light under Display Theme, then tap Apply Live so the running display picks up the changes.

What customers see

The display shows YOUR ORDER with each item, any discount, tip, delivery and packaging charges, and the TOTAL DUE. When the sale is paid it shows a thank-you screen. In Split Screen the other half plays your slideshow or video, which is a simple way to show promotions at the counter.

Supported media are JPG, PNG, GIF and WEBP images and MP4, MOV, AVI and WEBM videos. With images only you get a slideshow with a delay of 2 to 30 seconds; with a video, the first video plays on loop.

Limits

The display works over your local network only, so the second screen must be on the same Wi-Fi as the till. You cannot change the port while the server is running; stop it first. Settings save automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer display need internet?

No. The Web Display Server runs on the till itself and the second screen connects to it over your local Wi-Fi. If the internet drops, the display keeps working as long as both devices stay on the same network.

Can I use an old tablet as the customer display?

Yes. Any tablet or phone with a browser can scan the QR code or open the address. Leave it on the display page and plug it in so it does not go to sleep during service.

I changed the layout but the display did not update.

Tap Apply Live in the top bar while the server is running. That pushes the latest layout, media and theme to the open display without restarting it.
