Steps
- Open Admin. Open the drawer (the ☰ button) and tap Admin. The guide appears on your first visit; after that, tap Getting Started.
- Step 1: Create Categories. Tap Categories under Catalog and add groups such as Burgers, Drinks and Sides. They become the tabs on the POS grid.
- Step 2: Units & Taxes. Open Units and Taxes under Catalog. Add units such as Pcs or Kg, and your tax rates, for example GST 5% and PST 7%.
- Step 3: Variations & Modifiers (optional). Add Variation Groups for sizes with their own prices, and Modifier Groups for add-ons such as extra cheese. Skip this if you don't need them.
- Step 4: Create Products. Tap Products under Catalog and give each item a category, unit, tax, price and image.
- Step 5: Staff, sample data & bulk import. Add your team under Users & Roles. Tap Add Demo Data to practise first, or use Download Excel and Import Products to bring in a list from another POS.
- Step 6: Payments & Printer (required). Tap Payment Methods and turn on how you get paid. Then tap Printer Setup and Auto-Detect Printers to find your receipt printer.
- Finish. Tap Got it! on the last card. Leaving Admin syncs your changes so the POS shows them.
Why the order matters
Each step builds on the one before. A product needs a category, a unit and a tax before it can be saved, so set those up first. Payment methods and a default printer are the two things the till cannot sell without.
The guide's last card is about card processing. If you're in Canada, Moneris and Global Payments terminals integrate directly with SeroPOS. Send a recent statement to payments@seropos.app and we'll quote a rate.
Frequently asked questions
I closed the guide. How do I get it back?
Open the drawer, tap Admin and tap the Getting Started button at the top of the Admin screen. The guide opens from the first card. Use Next and Back to move through it, or Skip to close it.
Can staff see the Getting Started guide?
The guide lives in Admin. A staff member whose role doesn't include Admin access is asked for an Admin or Manager password before Admin opens, so in practice the owner or a manager works through it.
