Steps
- Check the setup. A manager must first create a shift, assign the employee to it and turn on Allow users to enter their own attendance in HRM & Payroll.
- Open Clock In / Clock Out. Open the drawer and tap Clock In/Clock Out, or tap the clock icon in the app bar. It opens as a dialog on a tablet and a sheet on a phone.
- Enter the User ID. Type the number in Enter User ID. Each employee's User ID is shown in Admin › Tools › HRM & Payroll › Employees.
- Enter the password. Type the employee's own password, so the punch is theirs.
- Clock in or out. Tap Clock In at the start of the shift or Clock Out at the end. Cancel closes without recording anything.
When it doesn't work
Most problems come from the shift setup, not the till. A manager can fix any record afterwards in HRM & Payroll › Attendance.
- No active shift: the person isn't assigned to a shift covering now. Check Assign Users, the From date and weekly off days.
- Already clocked in: a user can have one open shift at a time, so clock out first.
- Can't clock out on a fixed shift: clock-out is refused before the shift end minus grace time.
- Latitude and longitude are required: turn off Require location on clock-in in HRM Settings.
- Forgot to clock in or out: an admin adds or edits the row in Attendance.
