POS for furniture stores

A sofa is sold today, paid for in part, ordered in fabric and delivered six weeks later. SeroPOS keeps that whole story on one invoice: the quote, the deposit, the balance and the delivery.

Quotes customers accept online

Send a quotation as a PDF or link, and the customer can accept or decline it online.

Each invoice has a shipping address, charge, status and delivered-to, listed on the Shipments screen.

Warranties on invoices

Attach a warranty with its duration to a product and it prints on the invoice.

Variations for fabric and finish

Use variations for fabrics, finishes or sizes, each with its own SKU and price.

Floor models and stock

Track stock by location, including warehouse and showroom, and move it with transfers.

From quote to signed order

Big-ticket furniture rarely sells on the first visit. Create a quotation in the back office with the pieces, fabric choices and delivery charge, then download the PDF or share the link. The customer can open the quote online and accept or decline it, and the New Quotation notification template can email the link for you.

When they accept, convert the quotation into an invoice so nothing is re-typed. Invoices can also start as drafts or pro-forma invoices if your process needs a document before the order is final. Each user can be given a maximum discount percentage, which keeps negotiations within the margin you set.

Deposits now, balance on delivery

Take the deposit as a partial payment on the invoice. Any number of further payments can be recorded against it until it is paid in full, which also covers layaway-style plans where the customer pays over time. The balance shows on the customer's ledger, and the dashboard lists invoices with payments due within the pay term you set.

Receive Payment searches open invoices by number, customer, company or phone, shows their age and balance, and records full or partial payments. Notification templates send payment reminders by email or SMS, and the customer's ledger can be emailed as a statement for anyone paying in instalments. Each payment can be in a different tender, such as card for the deposit and bank transfer for the balance.

Tracking deliveries

Every invoice can carry a shipping address, shipping details, shipping charges, a shipping status and who it was delivered to, with documents such as a signed delivery slip attached. The Shipments screen filters orders by location, customer, date, payment status and shipping status, so dispatch can see what is ordered, packed, shipped or delivered.

Print a packing list PDF for the delivery crew. Sales custom fields can record a delivery date or time window, and you can make them required in Custom Labels. There is no route-planning or driver app, so the crew works from the filtered Shipments list and updates each status as pieces are dropped off and signed for.

Fabrics, finishes and warranties

Variation templates cover the choices customers make: fabric grade, finish, size or colour. Each variation has its own SKU, cost and price, and stock is tracked for the ones you hold. Special-order pieces can be added as products with no stock, or as open-price lines for one-off custom work. Warranties with a duration in months or years attach to products and print on the invoice with their expiry date.

Keep showroom and warehouse as separate locations if you want to see stock in each, and move pieces with stock transfers. The Profit / Loss Report breaks results down by product, category and customer, and the Sales Representative Report shows each salesperson's sales and commission, which is how most furniture floors pay their staff.

Frequently asked questions

Can a furniture store POS take deposits?

Yes. Create an invoice for the order and record the deposit as a partial payment. Further payments are added to the same invoice until it is paid in full, and the open balance shows on the customer's account, on the dashboard and in Receive Payment.

Does SeroPOS support layaway?

There is no separate layaway screen. Furniture stores use an invoice with partial payments: the customer pays a deposit, makes payments against the same invoice, and takes delivery when it is paid off. Payment reminders and ledger statements can be sent by email or SMS.

Can I track furniture deliveries?

Yes. Each invoice holds a shipping address, charges, details, a shipping status and who it was delivered to. The Shipments screen filters orders by shipping status and date, and a packing list PDF can go with the delivery crew. There is no driver app.

Can customers approve a quote online?

Yes. Quotations have a PDF and a public link where the customer can accept or decline. Accepted quotes convert into invoices, so the lines, prices and customer carry over and you only record the deposit. The customer can also be sent the quote link by email with the New Quotation template.

Can I pay my sales staff commission?

Yes. Give each user a sales commission percentage. The Sales Representative Report shows each person's total sales, returns and commission for the period, with a tab for sales with commission. Commission agents who are not users can be set up separately.
