POS for donut shops

A donut shop does most of its trade before 10 a.m., in coffees, singles and boxes of a dozen for the office. SeroPOS keeps that counter fast with quantity-first entry and coffee-and-donut combos, and counts what the morning bake produced so you know what is left on the racks.

What you get

Donut shops in SeroPOS

Quantity First checkout

Key 12, tap Glazed. The quantity goes in before the product, which is how dozens are ordered.

Coffee-and-donut combos

A combo product bundles a coffee and a donut at one deal price on one button.

Dozen and half dozen

Sub-units sell a box of 6 or 12 while stock is counted in single donuts.

Morning production

On Pro, each bake is a production batch that uses ingredient stock and adds finished donuts.

Mixed boxes

A mixed dozen can carry free flavour choices so the box is packed exactly as ordered.

Fast coffee buttons

Coffee sizes become separate buttons on the QSR grid, with milk and sugar as modifiers.

A counter built for dozens

Turn on Quantity First in QSR Settings and the order screen asks for the number before the product. The cashier keys 6, taps Boston Cream, keys 6, taps Honey Dip, and a mixed dozen is in the cart in four taps. The pay buttons sit in the same row as the QTY key, so Cash, Debit and Credit are one reach away. Hold moves to the floating button to keep the row clear.

For a single donut, staff just tap the button. Popular items can be double height and colour coded on the grid, with glazed in one shade and filled in another. The quantity keypad and pay buttons can be enlarged by long-pressing a money button, which helps on a small tablet at a busy counter.

Combos and boxes

A combo product lets you sell a medium coffee and a glazed donut as one line at a deal price. Create it in the back office from the products it includes, give it a selling price and a button, and it rings in one tap. Office orders can use a Dozen or Half Dozen unit made of 12 or 6 singles, so stock is counted in donuts whichever way they leave the shop.

For a mixed box, a product called Mixed Dozen can carry a free modifier group of flavours so the packer reads exactly what goes in. Large office orders placed the day before can be held with the customer's name and phone number, or taken in the back office as an invoice with a deposit recorded as a partial payment.

The bake, counted

Recipes and production are on the Pro plan. Write a recipe for each dough and each finish, with flour, sugar, yeast, oil and glaze in their units, a waste percentage and any packaging cost. SeroPOS prices the recipe from your ingredient purchase costs and gives the cost per donut, and selling prices can be updated from that cost in bulk.

Each morning, enter a production batch for what came out of the fryer. Finalizing it uses the ingredient stock and adds the finished donuts to stock at their production cost. The Manufacturing Report shows production and cost for any date range, and comparing it with the Product Sell Report shows how much of each bake actually sold.

Coffee, closing and day-old stock

Coffee sizes are variations, so Small, Medium and Large each get a button. Milk, cream, sugar and flavour shots are modifier groups with prices where needed. The Daily Sales Report shows modifier sales alongside items, which helps price that extra shot. A customer display can show the order and total as you ring it in.

At the end of the day, leftover donuts can be written off as a stock adjustment with a reason, and the Stock Adjustment Report totals them by week or month. If you sell day-old donuts at a discount, an automatic discount rule on a Day Old category keeps the price right at the till without manual overrides.

Frequently asked questions

How do I ring up a dozen donuts quickly?

Turn on Quantity First in QSR Settings. Staff key the number, then tap the donut, so a dozen glazed is two taps and a mixed dozen is a few more. You can also set up a Dozen unit made of 12 singles so stock is counted correctly.

Can I set up coffee and donut combo deals?

Yes. Create a combo product in the back office that includes the coffee and the donut, give it one selling price, and it appears as a single button on the till. Combos can sit in their own category on the quick-service grid.

Does SeroPOS track what we bake each morning?

On the Pro plan, yes. Each bake is a production entry based on a recipe. Finalizing it uses ingredient stock and adds finished donuts at their production cost. The Manufacturing Report shows total production and cost for any period, plus the current stock of each donut you make.

How do I handle large office orders placed in advance?

Hold the order with the customer's name and phone so it is ready to resume at pickup, or create an invoice in the back office and record a deposit as a partial payment. The balance is collected at pickup through Receive Payment.

Is SeroPOS good for a donut shop that also sells coffee?

Yes. Coffee sizes are variations with their own buttons, milk and flavours are priced modifiers, and donuts sit beside them on the same grid. Standard at $30 a month covers the counter; Pro at $50 adds recipes and production. Both have a 14-day free trial.
