Run and read the Trial Balance

The Trial Balance lists debit and credit totals so you can check they balance. Go to Payment Accounts > Trial Balance (/account/trial-balance) and set Filter by date. Rows show Supplier Due, Customer Due and each payment account's balance in the Credit or Debit column, with a Total row for each column. Click Print for a copy.

Steps

  1. Open the report. In the sidebar, open Payment Accounts and click Trial Balance. It needs the Account module and account access.
  2. Pick the date. Set Filter by date to the end date you want.
  3. Read the dues. Supplier Due is what you owe suppliers on purchases up to the date, and Customer Due is what customers owe you. Each appears in the Credit or Debit column as the screen places it.
  4. Read the account balances. Under Account Balances, each payment account is listed with its balance on that date.
  5. Check the totals. The Total row adds each column. Look into any large difference before you hand figures to your accountant.
  6. Print it. Click Print to print the trial balance.

What it is for

The trial balance here summarises SeroPOS balances only: supplier and customer dues and payment account balances. Stock value is not part of it. It is a quick check that your dues and accounts look sensible at a date, rather than a full ledger trial balance.

If you need a full double-entry trial balance with a chart of accounts, the Accounting module has its own reports.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't the debit and credit totals match?

This report sums only dues and payment account balances, so it won't always balance the way a full ledger does. Stock, sales income and expenses sit outside it. Check that payments are linked to accounts, and use the Accounting module for full double-entry books.

Can I run it for a past month end?

Yes. Set Filter by date to that month end. Dues and balances are worked out up to that date.
