Steps
- Open the report. In the sidebar, open Payment Accounts and click Cash Flow. It needs the Account module and account access.
- Choose an account. Pick one Account, such as Cash or Chequing, or leave All.
- Set the dates. Click Date Range and pick a preset (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Month, Last Month, This Year, Current financial year and others) or Custom Range.
- Filter the direction. Set Transaction Type to Debit or Credit to see only money going one way, or leave All.
- Read each row. Date, Account, Description (the sale, purchase, expense, transfer or deposit behind it), Credit, Debit and Balance.
- Export. Use the buttons above the table: CSV or Excel downloads the visible rows, Print opens a print view, Columns hides or shows columns, and PDF saves the table (offered in most back-office languages).
Reading the running balance
Pick a single account to make the Balance column meaningful: it then runs like a bank statement, and you can tick lines off against the real one. With All accounts, rows from different accounts are mixed together.
Only payments linked to an account appear. If a payment is missing, link it on the Payment Account Report.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a sale missing from cash flow?
Its payment isn't linked to a payment account. Open the Payment Account Report, set Account to None to find unlinked payments, and use Link Account on each. They then appear in Cash Flow and the account balance.
How do I reconcile with my bank statement?
Pick the bank account, set the Date Range to the statement period, and compare each row and the closing Balance with the statement. Record missing items as deposits or fund transfers.
