Share an invoice with a link
Every sale in SeroPOS has its own private web link. Send that instead of a PDF and the customer opens their invoice on a phone or computer, with no app, login or attachment to download. Share it by email, by text or straight from the till.
Shareable invoice links in SeroPOS
A link for every sale
Each sale gets its own invoice link built on a private token rather than the invoice number, so it cannot be worked out from one.
Opens anywhere
The customer opens the invoice in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install.
Filled into messages
The invoice URL tag puts the right link into the New Sale email or SMS template automatically.
Share from the till
In the app, Share Invoice in Recent Transactions sends a receipt without printing one.
Copy from All Sales
In the back office, copy a sale's invoice link from the actions menu and paste it anywhere.
Rate limited
The public invoice page is protected against repeated automated requests.
Why send a link instead of a PDF
A PDF attachment can be blocked by email filters, lost in a downloads folder or hard to read on a small phone screen. A link opens straight in the browser, sized for the device, and the customer can come back to it whenever they need the receipt for an expense claim or a return.
It also helps at the counter. Customers who do not want a paper receipt can get one by text in a few seconds, which saves paper rolls and keeps the queue moving. Customers who prefer paper can still have a printed receipt, so nobody is forced into one way or the other.
Sending the link from the back office
In All Sales, the actions menu on each sale includes the invoice URL. Copy it to paste into an email, a chat message or your accounting notes. You can also open the full-page invoice, print it or download a PDF from the same menu when someone does want a file.
Notification templates make it automatic. The New Sale template accepts an invoice URL tag, so when the message goes out by email or SMS the customer's own link is filled in. Payment Reminder can include it too, so the customer sees exactly what they owe. Customers can open their invoice straight from the message, with no attachment to download.
- Copy the invoice URL from All Sales
- Include it in the New Sale message
- Add it to Payment Reminder messages
- Open, print or download as a PDF when needed
Sharing from the SeroPOS app
At the till, open Recent Transactions from the drawer, find the sale and use Share Invoice. The phone or tablet's share sheet opens, so you can send the receipt through text messages, email or any messaging app the device has. Print Invoice is beside it if the customer wants paper after all.
Recent Transactions searches by invoice number or customer and filters by status, payment method and date, so you can find yesterday's sale and send the receipt again when a customer calls. It saves digging through paper rolls or asking the customer to come back in. It takes seconds, while the customer is still on the line.
Privacy and security
The link uses a private token rather than the invoice number, so someone cannot guess another customer's invoice by changing a digit. The public page is rate limited, which stops automated tools from trying links one after another. Each customer only ever sees their own invoice. That keeps each customer's receipt private.
The page shows the invoice the customer would see on paper: items, prices, tax, payments and your business details. It does not give access to their account, other sales or anything in your back office. Your settings, reports and other customers stay private. It is simply a receipt they can open.
Frequently asked questions
How do I send a customer their invoice by text?
Set up the New Sale notification template with the invoice URL tag and send it by SMS. At the till, you can also use Share Invoice in Recent Transactions to send the link through the device's messaging apps. Both ways send the same invoice.
Does the customer need an account to open the link?
No. The link opens the invoice in any browser without a login or app. Customers who want to see all their invoices and their ledger in one place can be given a customer portal login if you use the CRM.
Is the invoice link secure?
Each link uses a private token instead of the invoice number, so it cannot be worked out from the number. The public page is rate limited against repeated requests. Share the link only with the customer, as anyone with it can view that invoice.
Can I still email a PDF?
Yes. All Sales lets you download a PDF of any invoice, or print it on paper. Use whichever the customer prefers; the link and the PDF show the same invoice. Many customers like having both. Use whichever the customer prefers, and send both if they ask.
Does the link work for quotations?
Quotations have their own public quote link, and a separate page where the customer can accept or decline. Send it with the New Quotation template, which has a quote URL tag. Customers can view and respond without an account. Customers need nothing installed.
