Email and SMS campaigns to your customers
Send an email or text campaign to your leads or customers from the CRM. Choose who gets it by whether they have bought from you recently or not, write the message and send it now, without exporting a list to another tool.

Creating a campaign
Campaigns are in the CRM in the back office. Give the campaign a name and choose email or SMS. For email, write a subject and the body. For SMS, write a short message; keep it under one text length where you can, with your business name so people know who it is from.
Choose whether the campaign goes to leads or to customers, and then narrow the list. Filter by transaction activity to choose who receives it: those who have had a transaction in the last number of days you choose, or those who have not. Smaller, targeted lists usually get better results than sending to everyone.
- Name the campaign
- Choose email or SMS
- Write the subject and body, or the SMS text
- Choose leads or customers
- Filter by recent activity
- Send now
Campaigns that bring people back
The activity filter is what makes campaigns useful for a small business. Customers who have not bought in 60 or 90 days are the ones most worth a message: a new menu, a seasonal product, or a reason to come back this week. Customers who bought recently can be thanked or told about something new.
Leads who have not converted can get a short reminder of what you offer. Keep each message about one thing and make it easy to act on, with your phone number, address or a link to your online ordering page. Clear, simple messages get more replies. One clear offer beats a long list of news.
Sending through your own accounts
Email campaigns use the email settings in Business Settings: the system email, or your own mail server so messages come from your business address. SMS campaigns use your SMS settings, where you choose from built-in providers or connect your own SMS gateway. Send yourself a test first. Check that the test arrives looking right.
Contacts need an email address or a mobile number on their record to receive a campaign. Keep customer details up to date at the till and in the back office so your lists stay useful. Missing details mean missed customers. A quick reminder to staff to ask for an email or mobile number at checkout helps your lists grow over time.
Being a good sender
Only message people who have agreed to hear from you, and follow the anti-spam rules where you operate, such as Canada's anti-spam legislation. Include who you are and a way to opt out. A few well-timed messages a year do more than a weekly blast that people learn to ignore.
Pair campaigns with follow-ups for your best customers. A text to everyone who has not visited, and a personal call to the top regulars among them, covers both reach and the personal touch. Campaigns are part of the CRM in the Pro plan. Measure success by who comes back. Watch who returns after each campaign.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send SMS marketing from SeroPOS?
Yes, with the CRM in the Pro plan. Create an SMS campaign, choose leads or customers, filter by recent activity and send it. Messages go through the SMS settings in your Business Settings. Keep messages short and clear. Send yourself a test first.
How do I target customers who have not been back?
When choosing recipients, filter by transaction activity and pick customers who have not had a transaction in a set number of days, such as 60. The campaign goes only to them. Adjust the number of days to suit how often your customers normally visit.
Do emails come from my own address?
If you set up your own mail server in the Email Settings tab of Business Settings, campaign emails go out from your business address. Otherwise the system email configuration is used. Test it with a message to yourself first. Customers then recognise the sender.
Can I send a campaign to leads?
Yes. Campaigns can go to leads or to customers. Send leads a reminder or an offer to help them decide, and convert them to customers in the CRM when they buy. Keep messages short and helpful. Then follow up with a call to the most promising ones.
Do I need permission to message customers?
Yes. Only send marketing to people who have agreed to receive it, and follow the anti-spam law where you operate, such as CASL in Canada. Say who you are and include a way to opt out in every message. Keep a record of who agreed.
