Filter by type, category, brand, unit, tax or location to select the right products.

Change fifty products in one sitting

Editing products one at a time is fine for a typo. It is painful when a supplier puts up the price of every soft drink, or you split a category in two. Bulk edit in the SeroPOS back office solves that. From Products › List Products, tick the products you want and choose bulk edit. They open together in one grid, where each row shows the product's details.

Change what you need on each row, such as prices, categories or taxes, and save once. Your tills pick up the changes on their next sync. There is no need to open each product in turn, and because the changes are saved together, the till never shows a half-finished update where some prices have changed and others have not.

Find the right products first

The product list has filters for type (single, variable or combo), category, unit, tax, brand, location, active or inactive, and not for selling. Filter to the group you want to change, such as every product from one brand at one location, then select them all. The selection stays as you set it.

That keeps bulk edits targeted. A price change on one brand does not touch the rest of the shelf. Filters also help you check your work afterwards: run the same filter again and every product in the group should show the new values. If one does not, open it and correct it on its own.

  • Active, inactive or not for selling

Locations, deactivation and clean-up

Bulk change of locations adds or removes the selected products from business locations in one step, which helps when a second store opens with most of the first store's range. Mass deactivate takes products off sale without deleting them, so a summer menu can be switched off in autumn and brought back in spring with its history intact.

Mass delete is there for products created by mistake, such as a test import, but deactivating is usually safer for anything that has sales history. Deactivated products stay in reports and stock history, and can be activated again whenever you need them, which makes seasonal menus and range changes easy to manage year after year.

Other ways to change many prices

Bulk edit is one of several tools. Selling price groups can be exported to a spreadsheet, edited and imported back, which suits large wholesale price lists. Recipe costing can update selling prices from recipe cost for many products at once, on the Pro plan. And when you record a purchase, the purchase screen can update product prices from the new cost if that setting is on.

Pick the tool that matches the job: bulk edit for a mixed set of changes, price groups for a whole price list. Most businesses use more than one of them over a year, depending on the size and kind of change, and they all update the same catalogue that the tills read.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change prices on many products at once?

In the back office, open Products › List Products, filter and select the products, and choose bulk edit. The products open in one grid where you can change prices and other details on each row, then save them all together.

Can I move many products to another category?

Yes. Select the products in the product list, open bulk edit and change the category or sub-category on each row. Save once and the products move together. Check the result with the category filter afterwards to make sure every product moved.

Can I add a set of products to a new location?

Yes. Select the products and use the bulk change of locations action to add them to, or remove them from, business locations in one step. That is a quick way to stock a new store with your existing range. Prices come with them.

Should I delete or deactivate old products?

Deactivate them. Mass deactivate takes products off sale but keeps their sales history for reports. Mass delete is best kept for products created by mistake that have never been sold. Deactivated products can be activated again later. History stays intact.

Can I bulk edit products from the app?

Bulk edit is a web back office tool. In the app, Admin › Products edits one product at a time. Many owners use the app for quick changes and the back office for larger updates. Both update the same catalogue.
