One product catalogue for the till and back office

Every product you sell lives in one SeroPOS catalogue, shared by your tills, back office, QR menu and online ordering. Add an item once, with its price, tax, barcode and photo, and every till at that location has it after the next sync.

Everything about a product in one record

In the web back office, Products › Add Product holds the full record: name, SKU, barcode type, unit and sub-units, brand, category and sub-category, the locations that sell it, whether to manage stock, an alert quantity, the applicable tax and whether prices include or exclude it. Add a description, an image and even a brochure file.

Barcode types include Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and UPC-E, so manufacturer barcodes scan as they are. A product can be single, variable with options such as size, or a combo built from other products. Variable products get a price per variation, and the app supports drag-and-drop ordering of variations.

Fields for restaurants and for shops

Restaurants get a food type with diet tags, modifier sets and the ability to sell by weight from a scale. Shops get serial and IMEI tracking, rack, row and position per location, warranties and expiry periods. Turn on only what you use in Business Settings › Product, and the form stays short.

Four custom fields cover anything else, from a supplier code to a shelf label note. A product can also be marked Not for selling, which suits ingredients that are bought and stocked but never rung up. Fields you do not use stay hidden, which keeps the form quick to fill in for staff adding new items.

  • Restaurant: food type, modifiers, sell by weight
  • Retail: IMEI or serial, rack and row, warranty, expiry
  • Both: custom fields, Not for selling, images

Manage products from the app

Owners do not have to go to a computer. In the SeroPOS app, Admin › Products lists items with search by name, SKU or category. The product form covers name, SKU, category, unit, tax, whether the price includes tax, cost and price, variation prices, modifier groups, lead time, alert and reorder quantities, IMEI or serial tracking, and a photo from the camera or gallery.

Categories, units, taxes, variation groups and modifier groups have their own Admin screens, so a new menu can be built entirely on a tablet. The Getting Started guide that opens on the owner's first login walks through those screens in order, from categories to products to payments and printers. It is quick to follow.

One catalogue, every channel

The catalogue syncs to each till. Changes arrive in the background, and Sync DataBase in the side drawer pulls them in straight away. Tills keep a local copy, so selling continues when the internet is down. Changes made on one till reach the others the same way, so a new product added at the counter is on every register shortly after.

The same catalogue feeds your QR menu, online ordering page and delivery platform menu, so a price changed once is right everywhere. Plans include unlimited products. When you are starting out, bulk import from a spreadsheet or Add Demo Data gets you a working catalogue in minutes. Fix the details later.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on the number of products?

No. Both the Standard and Pro plans include unlimited products. Add as many items, variations and combos as your menu or shop needs. There is no extra charge as your catalogue grows, and the same products can be sold at every location you add.

Can I add products from the POS app?

Yes. Owners and users with Admin access can open Admin › Products in the app to add or edit products, including category, unit, tax, cost, price, variations, modifier groups and a photo taken with the device camera. No computer needed.

Can I use the barcodes already on my products?

Yes. Enter the manufacturer barcode as the SKU and choose its barcode type, such as EAN-13 or UPC-A. Scanning it at the till adds the product. If a product has no barcode, SeroPOS can create a SKU for you. Choose the type to match the code.

How do product changes reach the tills?

Tills sync the catalogue in the background. To pull changes in immediately, choose Sync DataBase in the side drawer. Each till keeps a local copy, so it can keep selling if the internet goes down. Changes made in the app sync the same way.

Can different locations sell different products?

Yes. Each product has a list of business locations that sell it. You can also clone products from one location to another when setting up a new store. Each location can also have its own featured products on the till.
