SeroPOS and Epos Now at a glance
As of 2026, Epos Now is a POS company based in the UK that also sells in the US, Canada and other markets. It covers retail and hospitality, runs on Windows and Android hardware, often supplied in bundles, and offers its own payment processing and an app store of integrations.
SeroPOS is a POS app for restaurants and shops, sold on monthly plans and installed from the app stores. It runs on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android and phones, and connects to card terminals from Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity Payments. There is no hardware bundle to buy. You can add devices as you grow.
Using your own devices
A hardware bundle gives you a matched set of devices, which many owners like. If you already have a touchscreen PC, a tablet or a printer, SeroPOS may let you start without buying new equipment. It prints to ESC/POS receipt and kitchen printers over the network, USB or Bluetooth, and Auto-detect finds them for you.
USB barcode scanners work without drivers, and the device camera scans when you don't have one. Cash drawers open through the receipt printer. A second screen or a browser on the local Wi-Fi can show customers their order, and the Global Payments T650P handheld can run SeroPOS directly.
Card payments and processing
SeroPOS sends the sale amount to a Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity Payments terminal, and the result and any tip come back to the till. Each till can have its own terminal. A payment outbox keeps an approved charge until the sale is saved, so a dropped connection doesn't leave a charge without a sale.
Because the processor is your choice, you can compare offers. Send us a recent processing statement and we'll quote a rate. Epos Now offers its own payments and supports some other processors; check its current site for what's available where you are. Card processing is always arranged separately from your SeroPOS plan, so a change of processor doesn't mean a change of till.
Built for Canada and the US
SeroPOS tax rates and tax groups fit North American sales tax: GST plus PST, HST, and GST plus QST in Canada, or a state rate stacked with county, city and district rates in the US. The Tax Report shows tax on sales, purchases and expenses for your filing period.
On Pro, SeroPOS posts to QuickBooks Desktop, Canadian or US edition, and to QuickBooks Online for Canadian companies. Canadian terminals from Moneris and Global Payments take Interac debit. Epos Now also serves North America; compare how each handles your province or state. In the US, Gravity Payments and Global Payments terminals are supported.
Switching from Epos Now
Most switches start with the product list. Export your items from Epos Now as a spreadsheet if it lets you, then match the columns to the SeroPOS product template and import it from the back office or the app's Import Products tool. Set categories, tax rates and modifiers first, so imported products land in the right place.
Before your first live day, run the 14-day trial on the devices you plan to use, connect your printer and card terminal, and do a few test sales and a refund. Check the end-of-day report against your test sales. If you need help, the in-app Live Support chat reaches our team from the Admin screen.
