POS for US businesses
In the US, sales tax can stack state, county and city rates, and every merchant has a card processor they'd rather not leave. SeroPOS sets up those rates as tax groups, works with Gravity Payments and Global Payments terminals.

Sales tax with state, county and city rates
Create each rate on its own, such as a state rate, a county rate and a city or district rate, then combine them into a tax group for each place you sell. Assign the tax group to products, choose whether prices include tax, and the till calculates tax line by line. A zero rate marks an item exempt, such as groceries in states that exempt them.
The back office also has a tax setup screen with one-click US state rates, product tax categories and a matrix for destination-based tax, which helps businesses that ship to customers in other states. Check rates against your state's current published figures, since local rates change. Receipts and the Tax Report show the tax collected, so the figures for your return come from the same place as the sales.
- Tax rates combined into groups
- Exempt items at a zero rate
- Prices with or without tax included
- One-click state rates to start from
Card terminals you can keep
SeroPOS works with Gravity Payments terminals: enter the OID, token and device name in Gravity Pay Settings, and the till sends the amount and handles approvals, partial approvals and returns. It also works with Global Payments through Global Pay Cloud, which needs no cable or IP setup, a direct network connection, or Terminal Plus on the T650P handheld.
Card surcharging is available on credit cards from 0 to 2 percent, set per location, if your state and card network rules allow it. Tips entered on the terminal come back to the sale and print on the receipt. If you'd like to compare processing costs, send us a recent statement and we'll quote a rate.
QuickBooks Desktop for the US edition
On the Pro plan, SeroPOS connects to QuickBooks Desktop 2021 or later, Pro, Premier or Enterprise, through the Web Connector. It supports the US edition with its sales tax items, and checks that the company file matches your books' country before sending anything. Customers, products, invoices, payments, suppliers, purchases and expenses are sent in a numbered pipeline you can follow.
Taxes are mapped by rate, never by name, with a warning if a rate doesn't match, and Build my tax structure in QuickBooks creates the tax items for you. A health screen shows anything holding up the sync, grouped by cause, and retries failures once the cause is fixed. Failure alerts arrive in the app and by email, so problems don't sit unnoticed for a month.
Two plans, simple pricing
Standard is $30 a month for one location and three users, with the full POS, kitchen tickets, receipt printing, the cash drawer, standard reports and kiosk mode. Pro is $50 a month for five users and adds the floor plan designer, server and client tills, CRM, recipes and production, advanced reports, QuickBooks and WooCommerce.
Extra locations are billed at their plan price and three more users cost $10 a month. Both plans start with a 14-day free trial that doesn't need a card. The apps are on the App Store and Google Play, and Windows and Mac are supported. You can change plans or add users from the Subscription screen in the app.
Frequently asked questions
Does SeroPOS handle US sales tax?
Yes. Create state, county and city rates and combine them into a tax group for each place you sell, then assign it to products. Exempt items use a zero rate. The tax setup screen can fill in state rates as a starting point, and the Tax Report totals tax collected and paid.
Does SeroPOS work with Gravity Payments?
Yes. Turn on Gravity Payments in the till's settings and enter your OID, token and device name. The till sends sale amounts to the terminal and handles approved, partially approved and returned transactions. The payment dialog keeps checking the terminal until the result comes back, so the cashier doesn't have to re-enter anything.
Can I add a credit card surcharge?
SeroPOS can add a surcharge of 0 to 2 percent to credit card payments only, set per location. Whether you can surcharge depends on your state's law and card network rules, so check those before you turn it on. Debit cards are never surcharged by this setting.

Yes, QuickBooks Desktop for the US edition, on the Pro plan. It connects through the Web Connector and sends sales, payments, customers, items, suppliers, purchases and expenses, with sales tax mapped by rate. QuickBooks Online support is currently aimed at Canadian companies.
