Product sales report
The product sales report lists what sold line by line and lets you slice it by product, customer, category, location and even the hours of the day, with a grouped view that totals units sold next to the stock you have left.

Three ways to view product sales
Open Reports, then Product Sell Report. The Detailed view lists each product sold as its own line, invoice by invoice. It's the full record, useful when you need to find one sale or check what a customer bought. Set a location and a date range first so the list stays manageable.
Detailed (with purchase) adds the purchase reference, lot and supplier for each line, which ties sales back to the stock they came from. The Grouped view rolls everything up per product, with units sold and current stock side by side, which is the quickest way to see what's moving and what's left.

Sales by time of day
Most reports stop at the date. The product sales report also takes a time range, so you can ask what sold between 7 and 10 in the morning across a whole month. A café can see whether muffins really sell after lunch, and a bar can see which plates go out after the kitchen's usual rush.
That helps with prep and staffing. If the grouped view shows soup selling almost entirely between 11 and 2, there's no need to keep a full pot hot until close. If late-evening sales are mostly two items, a short late menu may serve customers just as well. The same applies to staffing a counter.
Filtering by product, customer and category
Filter by product to see every sale of one item. Filter by customer to see an account's full buying history, which helps wholesalers and caterers when a regular asks for 'the same as last time'. Filter by category to look at one part of the menu or store, and by location to compare stores.
For restaurants, the food type filter uses the food types set on each product, such as vegetarian. It's a quick way to see how much of the menu's sales come from those dishes when deciding what to add or drop. Combine it with a category or time range filter to narrow it further.

Menu item sales for restaurants
For a restaurant, the grouped view is a menu item sales report. Run it for a month and you have each dish's units sold, which pairs well with recipe costs when you review prices. Run it by category to compare mains, starters and drinks. The location filter lets a group of restaurants compare the same dish across stores.
Modifiers are reported separately. The daily sales report has a Sales by Modifier section, so extras such as an added patty or oat milk can be counted on their own. Between the two, you can see both what was ordered and how it was customised. That's useful when deciding which extras to charge for.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see sales by item?
Open Reports, then Product Sell Report, and use the Grouped view for units sold per product, or the Detailed view for each sale line. Set a location and date range, and add a product or category filter to narrow it down.
Can I see item sales by hour?
Yes. Besides the date range, the product sales report takes a time range. Set the start and end times to the hours you're interested in, such as lunch, and the report shows only sales made in that window across the dates you chose.
Can I see what a particular customer bought?
Yes. Filter the product sales report by customer and use the Detailed view. It lists every product that customer bought in the date range, line by line. This is handy for regular accounts and for answering a customer's question about a past order.
What is the grouped product sales report?
It's the view that totals sales per product rather than listing each sale. It shows units sold beside current stock, so you can see in one table how fast each item sells and how much of it is left. It's the one to check before ordering.
Does it show which lot or supplier a sale came from?
Yes, in the Detailed (with purchase) view. Each sale line shows the purchase reference, the lot number and the supplier. That's useful for recalls and for checking margin against the cost of the specific stock that was sold. Filter by product to focus on one item.
