POS for Indian restaurants
An Indian kitchen splits an order between the tandoor, the curry station and the bread counter, and guests often ask first whether a dish is vegetarian. SeroPOS marks every item veg or non-veg on the till, sends each dish to the station that cooks it, and handles the dine-in, takeout and delivery mix most Indian restaurants run.

Veg and non-veg, visible on every button
In the back office, give each product a food type: Veg, Non Veg, Eggitarian or General. On the till a coloured dot appears on the product button, so a server can answer 'is this vegetarian?' without asking the kitchen. In QSR Mode the food-type dots can be switched on or off in QSR Settings, and modifier options can be given a food type in the back office too, so a paneer add-on and a chicken add-on are recorded correctly.
Food types also drive reporting and routing. The Product Sell Report can be filtered by food type, which shows how vegetarian dishes are selling against meat dishes over any date range. KOT Mapping can route by food type as well as by category, which helps a kitchen that keeps a separate vegetarian station or separate pans.
The tandoor, the curry station and the breads
KOT Mapping sends each item to the printer at the station that cooks it. Map tandoori starters, kebabs and naan to the tandoor printer, curries and biryanis to the main line, and chaat and desserts to the cold station. A single order of chicken tikka, butter chicken, garlic naan and gulab jamun prints in three places, and each cook sees only their part.
When the table orders more naan halfway through the meal, the server adds it to the held order and holds again. Only the new naan prints at the tandoor. Items already in process are locked on the order. If you prefer screens to paper, KDS Mode can run on a tablet at the pass with station filters and timers on every ticket.
Spice levels, thalis and the menu
Spice levels are a free modifier group: Mild, Medium, Hot and Indian Hot. Attach it to every curry and the level prints under the dish on the kitchen ticket. Add-ons such as extra paneer, extra gravy or butter naan instead of plain carry their own prices in separate modifier groups. Notes can be added to a line for allergies such as nuts or dairy.
A thali or lunch combo can be a combo product with its curry, dal, rice, naan and raita at one price. Multiple POS menus let you run a lunch menu with thalis and a dinner menu with the full à la carte list, switching on the till with a tap. On languages: back office in 16 languages; in-app help in 11; app screens in English. Hindi is available in the back office and in the help panel.
Takeout, delivery and parties
Takeout and delivery are a large share of trade for many Indian restaurants. Search the caller by phone, choose Take Away or Delivery, and Delivery requires an address before the order starts. Each service type can carry a packing charge for containers, fixed or as a percentage. A direct Uber Eats integration is rolling out in Canada as an add-on, and SeroPOS does not dispatch drivers.
Wedding, office and festival party orders are usually priced ahead. Create a quotation in the back office, send the customer a link to accept it, then convert it to an invoice and record a deposit as a partial payment. The balance is collected on the day through Receive Payment, and the sale appears on the Daily Sales Report.
Frequently asked questions
Can the POS show veg and non-veg symbols?
Yes. Each product can be given a food type of Veg, Non Veg, Eggitarian or General in the back office, and a coloured dot shows on the product button on the till. In QSR Mode the dots can be turned on or off in QSR Settings.
Can tandoor and curry orders print on different printers?
Yes. In KOT Mapping, create a KOT for each station, choose its printer and assign categories, products or food types to it. When an order is held, each printer receives only its own items, and later additions print only the new lines.
How do I add spice levels to dishes?
Create a Spice Level modifier group with free options such as Mild, Medium, Hot and Indian Hot, and attach it to your curries. Staff pick the level after adding the dish, and it prints under the item on the kitchen ticket.
Is the POS available in Hindi?
Back office in 16 languages; in-app help in 11; app screens in English. Hindi is one of the back-office languages and one of the help languages. Check how your receipt printer handles non-Latin menu names during the trial.
Can I take deposits for party and catering orders?
Yes. Create a quotation, let the customer accept it from a link, and convert it to an invoice. Record the deposit as a partial payment, and SeroPOS keeps the balance due on the customer's account until it is collected through Receive Payment on the day of the event.
