POS for fast-casual restaurants
Fast-casual guests expect to build their own bowl, pay quickly and pick it up from a shelf a few minutes later. SeroPOS gives them three ways to order, a counter till, a self-order kiosk and a QR menu on their phone, and puts all three on the same kitchen screen.
Fast casual restaurants in SeroPOS
Kiosk ordering
Kiosk Mode turns a tablet or touchscreen PC into a full-screen self-order station that takes debit and credit.
QR menu ordering
Guests scan a code, browse your menu with photos and modifiers, and send the order to your till. An add-on module.
Build-your-own modifiers
Bases, proteins, toppings and sauces each get a modifier group, marked Required or Free on the kiosk.
Make-line kitchen display
Tickets from every channel land on one KDS screen with timers, station filters and an All Day count.
Runs on your tablets
Use the iPads, Android tablets or Windows PCs you already have. No proprietary terminal is needed.
Dine-in or takeout
Every order carries its service type, with an optional packing charge for takeout containers.
Three ways in, one kitchen
A fast-casual counter usually has a cashier, a queue and a few guests who would rather not talk to anyone. SeroPOS handles all of them. Cashiers ring orders on the quick-service grid, kiosk guests order on a full-screen menu, and QR guests order from their phone at the table or before they arrive. All three send the order to the same kitchen tickets or KDS screen.
Web and QR orders appear on the till behind a cloud icon with a count badge and a bell. Staff open the order, check it and move it to the cart, where it is paid or marked as paid and sent to the kitchen. The order list shows the time, total and payment status, and you can print the invoice from there.
Modifiers for build-your-own menus
A burrito bowl or poke bowl is really a set of choices. Create a modifier group for each step: base, protein, toppings, sauces and extras. Each option can carry a price, so double protein or guacamole charges itself, and free options stay at zero. On the kiosk, groups are labelled Required or Free so guests can see which choices each step expects.
On the counter till, the modifier sheet opens after the item is added. Selected options show as chips on the cart line and can be removed one at a time. The Daily Sales Report totals modifier sales, which tells you how many guests add extra protein and whether a topping is worth keeping on the menu.
Kiosk and QR, step by step
Kiosk Mode comes with the Standard plan. It opens on an attract screen, then shows your categories, an item sheet for variations and modifiers, and an order summary where guests can edit or remove lines before paying by debit or credit on the connected terminal. An idle prompt resets the kiosk if a guest walks away. Staff exit with an Admin or Manager login.
The QR menu is part of the Online ordering and QR add-on. Generate a code per location with your logo and colours, upload banner images and print it for tables or the window. Guests pick a service type such as dine-in or takeout, choose a table if they are seated, and pay by card online or pay at pickup, depending on the methods you allow.
Keep the make line moving
Switch a tablet on the line to KDS Mode. Each ticket shows its age and the items to make; staff tick lines as they finish and tap SERVE to bump the order. Counters across the top show how many tickets are on time, need attention after eight minutes or are late after fifteen. Station chips let the hot line and the cold line each see only their items.
The All Day panel totals what is still to cook across every open ticket, so the grill can batch chicken for six bowls at once. Recall keeps bumped orders for two hours in case a guest returns with a missing item. A kitchen printer can run alongside the screen for a paper backup, and the Print KDS setting checks your KOT mapping before the screen goes live.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need special kiosk hardware?
No. Kiosk Mode runs on a tablet or a Windows or Mac touchscreen with SeroPOS installed and a supported card terminal for payment. On desktop it goes full screen and borderless. Phones are not supported for kiosk use. Payment at the kiosk is debit or credit only.
Is QR ordering included in the subscription?
QR menu and online ordering is an add-on module on top of Standard or Pro. It gives you a QR code per location, a mobile menu with your banners, variations and modifiers, customer accounts or guest checkout, and orders that arrive on your till. Kiosk Mode, by contrast, is included in both plans.
Can kiosk, QR and counter orders all go to one kitchen screen?
Yes. Kiosk orders go to the kitchen like counter orders. QR and web orders go to the kitchen once staff move them from the order list into the cart and send them. KDS Mode shows every ticket with its timer, and KOT Mapping can still route items to station printers.
How do online QR orders get paid?
You choose the payment methods each location offers at checkout. Card payment online runs through Stripe Checkout. Other methods, such as paying at the counter, record the order without taking payment, and your staff settle it at pickup. The order list on the till shows each order's payment status.
Can I charge for takeout packaging?
Yes. Each type of service can carry a packing or service charge, as a fixed amount or a percentage of the order. Set one on Takeout and it is added automatically when that service type is chosen. Packing charges show separately on the Daily Sales Report.
