Delivery charges and shipping on the bill
When you deliver, the bill needs to carry the delivery fee. SeroPOS adds delivery, shipping and packaging charges to the order and keeps them out of your item sales.
Delivery charges in SeroPOS
QSR Delivery toggle
One toggle on the QSR cart adds a delivery charge and a tip field and marks the order as delivery.
Charge from your settings
The delivery charge comes from the fixed packing charge on your Delivery type of service.
Shipping and packaging
The Shipping chip at payment adds a shipping cost and a packaging cost to any order.
On the receipt
Delivery, shipping and packaging print as separate lines, not hidden in item prices.
On the customer display
A customer-facing display shows delivery and packaging with the total due.
Reported separately
The daily sales report has a Delivery Charges card apart from sales.
Charging for your own deliveries
Restaurants and shops that deliver with their own staff need to charge for it, and the fee should be clear on the bill. In SeroPOS, delivery orders taken over the phone or at the counter can carry a delivery charge set by you, along with a tip for the driver if the customer wants to add one.
There are two routes. Quick-service counters use the Delivery toggle on the QSR cart. The standard and phone payment screens use Shipping, which records a shipping cost and a packaging cost on the order. Both print on the receipt and report apart from what you sold. Use whichever fits the till: QSR for a busy counter, Shipping for the standard layout and phones.
The Delivery toggle in QSR Mode
Turn on the Delivery button in QSR Settings, where it is off by default. During a sale, tap Delivery and the cart shows a delivery charge and a tip field. The charge is taken from the packing charge on your Delivery type of service, as long as that charge is a fixed amount, so the fee is consistent no matter who takes the order.
The toggle also switches the order's service type between Delivery and Take Away. Turn it off again and the order goes back to Take Away without the charge. Because the service type changes too, your daily report shows the order under delivery with its tip, so you can see how much delivery business you did.
- Turn on Delivery in QSR Settings
- Set a fixed packing charge on the Delivery type of service
- Tap Delivery on the cart for delivery orders
- Add a tip if the customer offers one
Shipping and packaging at payment
On the tablet payment screen, the Shipping chip opens Shipping & Packaging, with fields for Shipping Cost and Packaging Cost. On phones it sits under Adjust on the payment screen. Use it for a delivery fee on a one-off order, a courier charge on goods sent to a customer, or a packaging fee on a gift box.
Delivery orders started from the green Delivery card on the home screen need a customer with an address, so the driver knows where to go. If the customer has none, the till asks you to add the address first. Any packing charge on the Delivery type of service is added to the order automatically, and you can add shipping on top.
Keeping delivery revenue separate
Delivery fees are not food or product sales, and mixing them in makes your menu reports misleading. SeroPOS records them separately. The daily sales report has a Delivery Charges card for the period, and Orders by Type shows delivery orders and their tips apart from dine-in and take away, so you can see what share of the day came from delivery.
SeroPOS does not include a dispatch screen or driver app, so assign and track drivers the way you do today; the printed receipt carries the customer details for the driver. If you also sell through Uber Eats, its delivery fees are handled on the platform. A direct Uber Eats integration is rolling out in Canada, bringing platform orders into the till alongside your own delivery and counter orders.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a delivery fee to an order in SeroPOS?
In QSR Mode, turn on the Delivery button in QSR Settings and tap Delivery on the cart; the fee comes from the fixed packing charge on your Delivery type of service. On other screens, use the Shipping chip at payment to enter a shipping or packaging cost.
Can the delivery charge be a percentage?
The QSR Delivery toggle uses a fixed amount from the Delivery type of service. A Delivery type of service with a percentage packing charge still adds it to orders started from the Delivery card. For any other amount, type it as a shipping cost at payment.
Can customers tip the driver?
Yes. The QSR Delivery toggle shows a tip field beside the delivery charge, and the payment screen has its own tip field. Tips on delivery orders are reported under delivery in Orders by Type, so you can share them with drivers.
Do delivery charges count as sales in my reports?
No. Delivery charges are recorded apart from item sales. The daily sales report shows them on their own Delivery Charges card, so your product and category sales figures reflect only what you sold, not what you charged to deliver it.
Does SeroPOS have a driver app?
No. SeroPOS records delivery orders, the customer's address, delivery charges and tips, but it does not dispatch or track drivers. Many businesses print the receipt with the address for the driver and handle routes and driver schedules the way they already do.
