POS for delis and sandwich shops

A deli runs two counters in one shop: the sandwich line, where every order is built to taste, and the deli case, where meat and cheese are sliced and sold by weight. SeroPOS rings both on the same till, reading the scale for the case and printing each sandwich to the prep counter.

What you get

Delis sandwich shops in SeroPOS

Sell by weight

Products with Enable Weight read the weight from a connected scale and price it per kilogram or pound.

Scales that connect

USB, serial and network scales work on Windows, Mac and Android, with a typed weight as fallback.

Build-a-sandwich modifiers

Bread, cheese, toppings and sauces are modifier groups, with extra meat or cheese priced per option.

Prep counter tickets

Sandwiches print at the prep counter and hot items at the grill, routed by category.

Expiry on the deli case

Track expiry dates on cured meats and cheeses by lot, with alerts before they turn.

Platters and catering

Quote a platter order, turn it into an invoice and take a deposit as a partial payment.

The deli case, by weight

Turn on Enable Weight for meats, cheeses and salads sold loose, and set their unit and price per kilogram or pound. When staff add one to the cart, SeroPOS reads the weight from the connected scale and prices the line. Decimal quantities are supported, so 0.35 kg of prosciutto is charged exactly, and the weight shows on the cart line and the receipt.

Add the scale from the till's drawer under Add Weighing Scale. Detected USB and serial scales appear with a Connect button and a live reading; network scales are added by IP address and port and bound to one till. HID postal-style scales, CAS and Aclas, Mettler and continuous-output scales are supported. Without a scale, or on iPad, the keypad asks for the weight instead.

Sandwiches built to order

Make each sandwich a product with modifier groups for Bread (rye, sourdough, kaiser, wrap), Cheese, Toppings and Sauces. Free choices sit at zero; extra meat, double cheese or avocado carry their own price. Sizes such as half and whole can be variations, each with its own price and its own button on the quick-service grid.

Every choice prints on the kitchen ticket under the sandwich, with any note such as toasted or no onions. Chosen modifiers appear as chips on the cart line and can be removed one at a time. A combo product can bundle a sandwich, a soup and a drink at one lunch price, so the cashier taps once for the special.

Tickets to the right counter

KOT Mapping routes items by category, product or food type to the printer at each station. Cold sandwiches print at the prep counter, hot paninis and soups at the grill, and deli case orders do not print at all if you leave them unmapped. Held orders resumed later print only the newly added items, which matters when a customer adds a second sandwich at the till.

If the prep line prefers a screen, run KDS Mode on a tablet above the counter. Tickets show their age, a station filter, and an All Day panel that totals how many of each sandwich are still to make. Recall brings back anything bumped in the last two hours when a customer comes back about their order.

Freshness, platters and the books

Turn on product expiry and lot numbers in Business Settings. When cured meats and cheeses arrive, record the lot and expiry on the purchase, and the dashboard alerts you as dates approach. The Stock Expiry Report lists what remains in each lot, and expired units are written off with a stock adjustment, so the count in SeroPOS matches the case.

Office platters and catering trays are usually ordered ahead. Create a quotation in the back office, share it as a link the customer can accept, then convert it to an invoice and record the deposit as a partial payment. The Profit and Loss report shows sales, cost of goods and expenses together, by location or by product.

Frequently asked questions

Can SeroPOS read weight from a deli scale?

Yes, on Windows, Mac and Android. Connect a USB or serial scale, or add a network scale by IP and port, under Add Weighing Scale. Products with Enable Weight then take the weight straight from the scale. On iPad, staff type the weight on the keypad.

Which deli scales work with SeroPOS?

The app supports HID USB scales, CAS and Aclas serial protocols, Mettler MT-SICS and scales that send a continuous serial output, plus network scales through a serial-to-network adapter. Test your exact model during the 14-day trial before buying a new one.

How do I set up build-your-own sandwiches?

Create modifier groups for bread, cheese, toppings and sauces, price any extras such as double meat, and attach the groups to your sandwiches. Staff pick options after adding the sandwich, and every choice prints on the prep ticket. Half and whole sizes can be variations with their own prices.

Can sandwich tickets print at the prep counter only?

Yes. In KOT Mapping, create a ticket for the prep counter printer and assign your sandwich categories to it. Hot items can go to a second printer at the grill. Products sold from the deli case can be left out so they never print.

Can I track expiry on meats and cheeses?

Yes. Enable product expiry and lot numbers, then record lot and expiry on each purchase. The dashboard shows a stock expiry alert, and the Stock Expiry Report lists remaining stock per lot, so you can write off expired units with a stock adjustment.
