SeroPOS and TouchBistro at a glance
As of 2026, TouchBistro is an iPad-based restaurant POS founded in Toronto and used by restaurants in Canada, the US and other markets. It offers table management, menu tools, reservations, online ordering and its own payment options with partners, along with a range of add-ons. It is a well-established choice for table-service restaurants.
SeroPOS is a POS app for restaurants and shops, sold on monthly plans. It runs on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android and phones, and connects to card terminals from Moneris and Global Payments in Canada and Gravity Payments in the US. Kiosk Mode and KDS Mode are part of the app rather than separate products.
Devices beyond the iPad
TouchBistro runs on iPads, as of 2026, which many restaurants already use. If you would rather put a Windows touchscreen PC at the counter, use Android tablets on the floor or run the till on a Global Payments T650P handheld, SeroPOS supports all of those, as well as iPad and Mac.
Screens 650dp wide or more use the tablet layout, phones get a tabbed layout, and small handhelds get a compact version. On Pro, Server / Client mode shares one database across tills on your network, with a Windows PC as the server, so held orders, tables and the kitchen display stay in step.
Kiosk and kitchen display
Kiosk Mode, included in Standard, turns a tablet or PC into a full-screen self-order screen. Customers browse categories, choose variations and modifiers, review their order and pay by debit or credit on your terminal. Exiting the kiosk needs an Admin or Manager login. It is not available on phones.
KDS Mode turns a tablet or PC into a kitchen board with On time, Attention and Late counters, station chips and All Day and Recall panels. Kitchen tickets can also print to separate printers by category, product or food type. TouchBistro offers its own kitchen display and ordering tools; compare the specifics on its current site.
Payments and processing
SeroPOS sends the amount to a Moneris Go, Global Payments or Gravity Payments terminal, and tips entered on the terminal come back to the receipt. Each till can have its own terminal, set under Card Terminal for This Till, so the bar and the floor charge on separate devices.
Because the processor is your choice, you can compare offers. Send us a recent processing statement and we'll quote a rate. If a card is approved but the sale doesn't save, SeroPOS keeps the approval in an outbox and records it again. A duplicate-charge guard warns before the same card is charged twice.
Switching from TouchBistro
Most switches start with the product list. Export your items from TouchBistro as a spreadsheet if it lets you, then match the columns to the SeroPOS product template and import it from the back office or the app's Import Products tool. Set categories, tax rates and modifiers first, so imported products land in the right place.
Before your first live day, run the 14-day trial on the devices you plan to use, connect your printer and card terminal, and do a few test sales and a refund. Check the end-of-day report against your test sales. If you need help, the in-app Live Support chat reaches our team from the Admin screen.
