SeroPOS and Revel at a glance

As of 2026, Revel Systems is an iPad-based POS for restaurants and retailers, particularly multi-location and franchise groups. It offers deep menu and permission configuration, enterprise reporting, an always-on mode for poor connections and its own payment processing options. It is a well-known choice for groups that need central control across many sites.

SeroPOS is a POS app for restaurants and shops, sold on monthly plans, with a web back office that manages several locations. It runs on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android and phones, and connects to card terminals from Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity Payments. It suits independent owners and smaller groups.

Multi-location tools

In SeroPOS each business location has its own address, receipt settings, invoice numbering, payment methods and daily report email. Products can be cloned from one location to another, stock is tracked per location, and stock transfers move goods between them. Reports filter by location and date range. Every location keeps its own day-end time.

Users and roles can be limited to particular locations, and each extra location is added at the plan price. Revel is built for larger estates with central menu control and enterprise reporting; if you run dozens of sites, compare how each system handles your head-office needs. Ask us about your setup if you run more than a handful of sites.

Offline and multi-till

SeroPOS saves every sale on the device first and uploads it in the background, retrying until it gets through, and a sale that can't upload is parked, never thrown away. Kitchen tickets keep printing offline, and a payment outbox protects card approvals. An indicator on the till shows whether it is online.

On Pro, Server / Client mode shares one database across tills on the local network, with a Windows PC as the server, so held orders, tables and the kitchen display stay in step even without outside internet. Revel also offers a mode designed to keep working through outages; compare the details.

Devices and payments

Revel runs on iPads, as of 2026. SeroPOS runs on iPads too, as well as Windows PCs, Macs, Android tablets, phones and the Global Payments T650P handheld, so different sites can use whatever hardware suits them. Printers connect over the network, USB or Bluetooth, and each till can have its own card terminal.

For card payments, SeroPOS connects to Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity Payments terminals, with a terminal per till if you want. Send us a recent statement and we'll quote a rate. Revel offers its own processing options and supports other processors in some cases; check its current site.

Switching from Revel

Most switches start with the product list. Export your items from Revel as a spreadsheet if it lets you, then match the columns to the SeroPOS product template and import it from the back office or the app's Import Products tool. Set categories, tax rates and modifiers first, so imported products land in the right place.

Before your first live day, run the 14-day trial on the devices you plan to use, connect your printer and card terminal, and do a few test sales and a refund. Check the end-of-day report against your test sales. If you need help, the in-app Live Support chat reaches our team from the Admin screen.

Frequently asked questions

Is SeroPOS a good Revel alternative?

It can be for independent owners and smaller groups that want published pricing, their own choice of devices and processor, and multi-location stock and reports. Revel is built for larger multi-location and franchise estates with enterprise configuration; very large groups should compare carefully.

How does SeroPOS handle multiple locations?

Each location has its own settings, stock, invoice numbering and reports, and products can be cloned between locations. Stock transfers move goods between them. Users can be limited to certain locations. Each extra location is added at the plan price, $30 or $50 a month.

Does SeroPOS keep working when the internet goes down?

Yes. Sales are saved on the device and uploaded when the connection returns, and kitchen tickets keep printing. On Pro, Server / Client mode lets tills share one database over your local network. Card terminals still need their own connection to approve payments.

How does SeroPOS pricing compare with Revel?

SeroPOS publishes two plans: Standard at $30 a month and Pro at $50 a month, each with a 14-day free trial and no card needed. We don't quote Revel's prices here because they change; check their site for current plans, hardware and processing costs, and compare the total for your setup.

Can I try SeroPOS before I switch?

Yes. Both plans have a 14-day free trial with no card needed, and the trial includes every feature. Download the app on a device you already own, add demo data or import your products from a spreadsheet, and run a few test sales before you change anything at your counter.
