SeroPOS and Lightspeed Retail at a glance

As of 2026, Lightspeed Retail is an iPad and web-based retail POS from the Montreal-based Lightspeed group, with strong inventory, purchasing, multi-store and e-commerce tools. It offers Lightspeed Payments in supported markets and is used by many specialty retailers. Many owners choose it for its depth on the inventory side.

SeroPOS is a POS app for shops and restaurants, sold on monthly plans, with a web back office for products, stock and reports. The till runs on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android and phones, and connects to card terminals from Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity Payments. Retail Mode gives the till shop wording.

Inventory, lots and expiry

In the SeroPOS back office, purchases record lot numbers and manufacturing and expiry dates. The Stock Expiry Report shows stock left per lot with its expiry date, and you can choose whether to keep selling or stop selling a set number of days before expiry. The Lot Report shows units sold and adjusted per lot.

Serial and IMEI numbers can be recorded per item for electronics and phone shops, products can carry a warranty, and stock can be placed by rack, row and position in each location. Stock transfers move goods between locations, and stock adjustments record damage or loss with a reason.

Barcodes and labels

SeroPOS prints barcode labels from the back office. Set up sticker sheet or continuous roll sizes, then pick products and quantities, and choose what prints: name, variation, price with or without tax, business name, lot, expiry and packing date. Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and UPC-E are supported.

At the till, a USB scanner types into the product search, or the device camera scans when you don't have one. For weighed goods, the app reads USB, serial and network scales directly or takes a typed weight. Lightspeed Retail also offers strong barcode and label tools; compare what you need.

Accounting and e-commerce

On Pro, SeroPOS sends sales, payments, customers and items to QuickBooks. QuickBooks Desktop, Canadian or US edition, also receives purchases, supplier bills and payments, expenses and inventory adjustments through the Web Connector. QuickBooks Online for Canadian companies receives sales, payments, customers, items and expenses. Taxes are matched by rate.

For online selling, Pro includes WooCommerce: push categories and products with variations, images, prices and stock, and pull web orders into SeroPOS as sales. Lightspeed Retail offers its own e-commerce options; check its current site for details. Order statuses map to sale and shipping statuses, and a sync log shows what moved and when.

Switching from Lightspeed Retail

Most switches start with the product list. Export your items from Lightspeed Retail as a spreadsheet if it lets you, then match the columns to the SeroPOS product template and import it from the back office or the app's Import Products tool. Set categories, tax rates and modifiers first, so imported products land in the right place.

Before your first live day, run the 14-day trial on the devices you plan to use, connect your printer and card terminal, and do a few test sales and a refund. Check the end-of-day report against your test sales. If you need help, the in-app Live Support chat reaches our team from the Admin screen.
