SeroPOS and SpotOn at a glance

As of 2026, SpotOn sells POS systems for restaurants, bars and retail, mainly in the US. It generally supplies its own hardware and payment processing, with features such as online ordering, loyalty, reservations and marketing, and it is known for local, hands-on onboarding and support. Many owners value that service model.

SeroPOS is a POS app for restaurants and shops, sold on monthly plans and installed from the app stores. It runs on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android and phones, and connects to card terminals from Global Payments and Gravity Payments in the US and Moneris in Canada. Plans are published, with a 14-day free trial.

Devices and payments

SpotOn's bundled approach means one supplier for hardware, software and processing, as of 2026, which some owners prefer. With SeroPOS, you choose the devices and the processor separately. A Windows touchscreen at the counter, an iPad at the bar and a Global Payments T650P handheld for table-side payment can all run the same app.

Tips entered on the terminal come back to the receipt, partial approvals ask for the balance, and Close Batch prints a day-end summary from the till. Send us a recent processing statement and we'll quote a rate. An optional credit card surcharge of up to 2% can be turned on per location where it is allowed.

Kitchen display and QR ordering

SeroPOS's KDS Mode turns a tablet or PC into a kitchen board with On time, Attention and Late counters, station chips, an All Day panel and a Recall panel. Kitchen tickets can also print to separate printers by category, product or food type, and they keep printing when the internet is down.

The online ordering module adds a QR menu and online ordering site per location, with your logo, variations, modifiers and combos, and orders land in the POS for staff to accept. SeroBot, integrated with Inputly.AI, can take phone orders into the same queue. SpotOn also offers online ordering and kitchen tools; compare the details.

Support and setup

SeroPOS is set up by you, with help built in. A guided setup and Getting Started guide walk through the first steps, the in-app knowledgebase covers each screen, and the Help panel can be translated: back office in 16 languages; in-app help in 11; app screens in English. Live Support chat reaches our team from the Admin screen, with a view-only screen share if you allow it.

Add Demo Data builds a sample menu so you can practise before entering your own. SpotOn is known for on-site installation and in-person support in many areas; if that matters most to you, weigh it alongside software and processing. Remove Demo Data clears it again when you are ready.

Switching from SpotOn

Most switches start with the product list. Export your items from SpotOn as a spreadsheet if it lets you, then match the columns to the SeroPOS product template and import it from the back office or the app's Import Products tool. Set categories, tax rates and modifiers first, so imported products land in the right place.

Before your first live day, run the 14-day trial on the devices you plan to use, connect your printer and card terminal, and do a few test sales and a refund. Check the end-of-day report against your test sales. If you need help, the in-app Live Support chat reaches our team from the Admin screen.

Frequently asked questions

Is SeroPOS a good SpotOn alternative?

It can be if you want to use your own devices, choose your processor and see the plan price up front. SeroPOS covers kitchen display, QR ordering, tables and kiosk. If you value one supplier for everything and in-person installation, SpotOn's bundle may suit you better.

Does SeroPOS work with Gravity Payments?

Yes. Turn on Gravity Payments in the app's Settings and enter your account details and device name in Gravity Pay Settings. The till sends the amount to the terminal and handles approved, partially approved and refund results. Global Payments terminals are also supported in the US.

Can SeroPOS take phone orders?

Yes. SeroBot, a voice AI phone assistant integrated with Inputly.AI, can take phone orders and send them into the SeroPOS order queue. You set it up from the Inputly Integration screen in the back office, which generates the key and syncs your menu.

How does SeroPOS pricing compare with SpotOn?

SeroPOS publishes two plans: Standard at $30 a month and Pro at $50 a month, each with a 14-day free trial and no card needed. We don't quote SpotOn's prices here because they change; check their site for current plans, hardware and processing costs, and compare the total for your setup.

Can I try SeroPOS before I switch?

Yes. Both plans have a 14-day free trial with no card needed, and the trial includes every feature. Download the app on a device you already own, add demo data or import your products from a spreadsheet, and run a few test sales before you change anything at your counter.
